| | Welcome to The Prince Rupert |
Proprietor Michael Thurlby and landlords Tony and Heidi Yale welcome you to The Prince Rupert public house in Newark, Nottinghamshire. Formerly called the Woolpack this historic building dates back to around 1452 and has been lovingly restored over the last 18 months with the help of Haymills Conservation Specialists to become one of the town's most characterful pubs. The building was around during the civil war and forms part of the tourist civil war trail.. |
After the success of The Tobie Norris in Stamford (The Prince Rupert's sister pub), Michael embarked on the adventure of restoring another old building and bringing all the original features back to life and employing Tony and Heidi to deliver a fantastic quality of service, great food and real ales. |
Michael's passion is delivering a high standard of staff, food and drink in beautiful surroundings and he hopes you enjoy what he has achieved with The Prince Rupert. |
Michael also owns another 7 establishments (which are accessible through this site) and is also the proud owner of Ufford Ales brewery based at The White Hart. You will find a selection of his own beers at The Prince Rupert which form part of the 5 real ales on offer. Along with Master of Wine John Atkinson, Michael recently formed his own wine importing business, ensuring that all the wines available in his establishments have been hand picked for you to enjoy and to compliment the cuisine. |
At The Prince Rupert public house and eatery we pride ourselves on serving up great homemade food with a wide variety of high quality dishes as well as our own recipe stone baked pizzas available to eat in or takeaway. |
Why not treat your friends and family to a visit to The Prince Rupert to enjoy a quick pint, afternoon tea or a relaxing meal in fantastic period surroundings? If you are planning to come to Newark but are not familiar with the town then use our map to plan your journey. |
